Fun, frights and friends: the three elements for a perfect Halloween. On October 31, the West High Cross Country Team provided just that by hosting the 2nd annual Halloween Fun Run. The team organized and facilitated the event, while encouraging community participation.

Though nothing was new this year, there were “13 more” participants according to Theresa James, West High math teacher and coach. Student participation is crucial to the event. James said “To advertise more,” would help increase participation in future years.

Students who ran in the Fun Run enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere. Junior Madeleine Alt said, “I like that it was upbeat and people seemed to be having a good time…It’s a fun thing to do because it’s just really laid back and chill.”

Junior Alissa Luangrath said she would recommend participating in the Halloween Fun Run to friends and fellow classmates. Luangrath said, “It’s fun…At the end you get prizes.”

Besides being an athletic event for West High students to be part of, the Fun Run is also for a good cause. Alt said, “It really helps out the cross country team, to help them go to invitationals so they can actually run.”
