Brighter Christmas is a non-profit group that delivers food and toys to the less fortunate during the Christmas season. Each kid receives three toys, and a family receives food including turkey, with the average amount of families being helped each Christmas being around 650. This is their 38th year working within the Tracy Unified School District. Steve Abercrombie is the Chairman of Brighter Christmas. Abercrombie said that he has been participating in Brighter Christmas for 15 years and is looking forward to another year of helping out the less fortunate. For students looking to help Brighter Christmas Abercrombie says, “You can help by donating in the boxes held all around Tracy and at every school, or you can also look into volunteering for Brighter Christmas at www.brighterchristmasoftracy.com” Volunteers who participated in Brighter Christmas for two years are also eligible for a scholarship from the Brighter Christmas organization. Christmas is about giving as much as it is receiving, Brighter Christmas provides the opportunity for students to help those who can not help themselves or others this Christmas.
