West High School has many accolades. With our victorious sports teams, rigorous courses and spirited students, it is easy to say that West is a great school. But one fact that is very prominent about West is that we have a great team of teachers, many of which, I am glad to have gotten to know over the past few years.
Ms. Annette Feldman, once in the law profession, never thought that she would end up in Tracy Unified School District.
Before joining West’s Math Department, Feldman was a powerful attorney who specialized in Child Welfare Law, working with minors who were in the foster care system. She advocated to each one of her clients that education was their ticket to independence and could not be taken away from them. After retiring from law, Feldman decided to become a teacher. Although she has dedicated all of her time to her students, she still continues to use her legal skills to contribute to the school.
As a Mock Trial coach, Feldman shares her talents amongst a group of students who are interested in pursuing law as a career. She is also the advisor of West High’s Gay Straight Alliance Club.
Ms. Feldman has motivated me and many other people to pursue what really makes us happy, no matter how far along in life you are.
“Talk to as many people as you can about what they do, how they got there, if they are happy and why or why not. When you are interested in a particular job or profession, ask around and find someone in that profession and shadow them…ask questions, observe, imagine yourself in that life. Does it suit you? Does it feel excited and interesting?” Feldman advised.
