Many people don’t understand just how important FFA is. Many of those same people don’t even know that FFA stands for “Future Farmers of America.”
The Future Farmers of America (FFA) mostly strives to educate younger people about agriculture and the importance of agriculture to the world. I was able to interview a few people from this school’s FFA team about the importance of FFA.
The first person to be interviewed was junior Daniel Vargas, who is the chapter secretary of the WHS FFA group, but is also the president of the Delta Valley Section. I asked him why he believed the Future Farmers of America association was important and he said, “I think its important because not only does it teach us the importance of agriculture and how much it does for the world and how nothing would be possible without the stuff, but we also have such as cotton for our shirts and food for our people. But it also teaches us important life skills such as communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.” He describes the FFA as “a youth organization program that teaches kids the fundamentals of how to be an adult, and how to grow and learn.”
The second person I interviewed was the FFA advisor, Mrs. Ferrell, who I also asked, “Do you think FFA is important?” Her response was, “I believe that FFA is very important.” She proceeded to say, “FFA is built on a three (3) ring model of classroom, FFA and SAE … students are encouraged to be well rounded individuals and FFA provides the leadership aspect of that.” To highlight the fact that FFA helps and encourages students to grow, mature, and become well rounded, this is very important for anyone. Everybody needs to grow and mature. We all also need to be well rounded because without these things, we’d all just be flat in personality. Only knowing how to do certain things and not being able to think outside the box, always being childish, and not knowing how to do a variety of different things.
