We unfortunately mourn the loss of senior David Valdez, 17 years old. Valdez passed away on January 12, 2024. David was a student, a defensive end, and a friend to a plethora of people. Speaking to some of his football teammates, David was described as someone who always could make you laugh. He had a kind soul.
Two of David’s teachers shared their remembrance of him. English teacher Alana Escalante shared that David wrote about his plans for his adult life and how he wanted to make a positive difference on those around him. Speed and Power teacher Casey Wichman simply said he was still just a kid.
David, as an individual, touched many lives. Valdez meant a lot to the people who knew him. His close friends describe him as someone who always brightened a room. His presence was always known. He was a positive light.
Junior Caleb Cosme, a friend to David, said that David was an incredibly funny kid with passion and curiosity in all aspects of life. He also brought up David’s bright, memorable smile. And it was bright.
David will be remembered for his laughter and jokes through his friends, family, and his teammates. We’ll miss his presence and hope his legacy, name, and heart is always remembered.
