In the heart of West High, a small group of faithful youth shines brightly through the efforts of the Christian Club. Led by a group of fearless teenagers, Christian club is more than a community but a fostering spiritual growth and camaraderie.
Christian club is a place where students can come and hang out in a comfortable environment while learning more about God! Does not matter if you are a believer or non-believer the door is open for anyone willing to stop by.
One of the officers, Zoe Tong a senior who is the club’s chair stated, “The purpose of Christian club is to create a community of believers on our campus and to help people that want to know God better, wherever they’re at in their faith. It’s a place to bring hope, especially in our struggling world, and to show how much Jesus is faithful to all of us.”
Another member, Marcel Bovell a senior as well as the president of the club expressed, “My favorite thing about the club is the community that we have and how I’m able to be transparent with the other members with things that are going on in my walk with God”
During Christian club there are multiple meetings where you can learn more about God and who he is. They create many slideshows and lessons about God’s word and teach to the fellow members.
Manu, the club’s secretary stated, “For an average meeting, we have a presentation on a topic that could be related to real life but what we do is give a biblical perspective on it,” he added, “We also have free Bible signups and a prayer box dedicated just for members. Sometimes during meetings, we will also give out pizza to people who may be hungry.”
If you are a busy person and it is often hard to continue your relationship with God through his word and prayer on your own time, then Christian club is a wonderful way to reconnect! School is known for taking a lot of our time so having a club during those hours where we can learn more about God is convenient.
Christian club’s treasure, Josephson a Junior said, “Christian club takes place in K4, it is next to the stage in the quad! One of the main reasons for making a school Christian club is because school takes up a massive amount of time, and Christian club can be an outlet for that, reminding us to include God in our everyday life.”
West High’s Christian club does not stay in the same place, but they expand! They have gone as far as contacting other clubs in different schools.
Manu stated, “On a larger scale, we are currently working with other schools Christian Clubs on another upcoming joint event, similar to Scriptures at Sunset.”
Christian club continues to make a positive impact on the West High community and beyond! Their radiant presence effectively communicates the club’s values and purpose to others as they continue spreading the word of God.
