Every year at graduation, the student from the graduating class with the highest grade point average is awarded the title of valedictorian. For the 2024 school year at West High, we honor Kaavya Mahendran as our valedictorian.
It has not always been Mahendran’s goal to earn the title of valedictorian. She earned this award because she has always been dedicated to challenging herself when it came to learning. Mahendran said, “Throughout high school, I’ve always strived to do my best and push myself to excel in academics, extracurricular activities, and personal development.”
Mahendran has received many scholarship offers from colleges that she has applied to. After high school, she plans on going to UC Berkeley. During the fall, at UC Berkeley, she will be majoring in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). While she has not decided what career path she wants to go down yet, Mahendran is considering software engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence engineering.
We, the people of the Zephyr, would love to congratulate Kaavya Mahendran on becoming valedictorian and wish you the best on your future journey.
