Now that the school year has started, a lot of events await us for this upcoming year. Some that we should anticipate are the upcoming events from our beloved Wolf Pack Music Program. The program is known for its musically talented students and their passion for singing, instruments, performances and more.
The schedule is packed for the Music Program with performances inside and outside of West High.
The choral department, or choir, will be performing in many choral festivals starting in October, with various competitions and festivals in the following months.
The Wolf Pack Marching Band will have four competitions this year, travelling to places such as Turlock, Pleasanton, and Stockton.
The Jazz and the Symphonic Band will be competing in different events this year with other performances and festivals coming up in the future.
The Orchestra is inviting and encouraging all middle school musicians to attend their orchestra festival at the Monte Vista Middle School.
The music program’s upcoming Winter Concert will take place in December, and a benefit concert will be held for the St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
Some members of the program express their anticipation for some events. Senior Frances Melendres from the choral department says, “I’m excited about the senior recital because for me, it will be the performance that will wrap up my journey of being in the music program and gives me a chance to show how much I’ve grown and improved.” Newcomers to the program also share their excitement for the upcoming events.
Freshman Laasya Elisetty from the choral department says, “I am most looking forward for the winter performance event because I feel as it is a very cool opportunity for me to explore my vocal in a performance.”
The choral director, Joseph Castro, says that he looks forward to all the events of his students, “Each concert is an opportunity for my students to showcase their growth and passion for music.” The choral director also looks forward to making music with all his students and seeing them grow into strong musicians and friends.
The music program has set a new objective for themselves this school year. Musical Director, Jonathan Raman, shares the program’s goal for this year “Our biggest goal right now is to commit to the dream of what it means to be in the music programs. People recognizing us not just in West High, but also across California or even across the nation.” He aims for the Wolf Pack Music Program to become an example of greatness for young aspiring musicians.
There are a lot of amazing performances and music the program has prepared for the entire year. We hope the Wolf Pack Music Program will continue to bring pride to West High through their musical prowess.
