The power of clubs in promoting awareness:
Did you know that student-led clubs are some of the most effective ways to promote awareness and inspire change among youth? Research (Greatschool.org) shows that students involved in clubs are more likely to participate in community service, be socially responsible, and develop leadership skills that last a lifetime. These clubs not only provide a platform for students to explore their passions but also create ripples of impact that extend beyond the school walls.
Clubs like CSA (community supported agriculture), SBHS (school-based health service), and key club, for example, are resolute specially to community serving projects. Explained one club commissioner Josephson during an interview. A club like “Love for our Elders” may have a specific mission, such as writing letters to elders who do not have a lot of contact with family anymore. It is all about bringing awareness to those who are often forgotten in our community.
Clubs stay active through a variety of events. Interclub council meetings, for example, have been crucial. At these meetings, clubs stay updated on events and get the opportunity to ask for support, the commissioner Josephson shared. Community cleanups, awareness walks, and letter-writing campaigns are just a few ways clubs bring attention to their causes.
Josephson’s mission of being Club Commissioner to encourage students to be enthusiastic about their clubs. It is not just about having the presence of the club on campus but also ensuring that people really care about what they do. Students can join meetings, participate in events, or simply lend their voice to support these causes.
We have witnessed more clubs sprouting out and becoming enthusiastic about their purposes. would hope that Associated Student Body (ASB) has played a part in that, but regardless, it is a wonderful sight to see, students involved in these clubs are not just participants- they are leaders driving change.
Challenges are a natural part of journey. I think the biggest problem we face is getting our clubs informed on important updates, but with the new system, it is getting better.
Studies have shown that students who engage in club activities are more likely to excel academically and develop essentials life skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Being part of a club that promotes awareness can also lead to networking opportunities, scholarships, and lifelong friendship. When students take the initiative, their influence extends far beyond their school years, planting the seeds for a more aware and compassionate society.
Clubs are more than just extracurricular activities- they are powerful agents of change that amplify student voices and build stronger communities. Whether you are looking to join a cause or lead a movement, students clubs provide the perfect platform to be effective.
