West High’s Girls Volleyball sets off into their 2024 fall season! The new Frosh, Jv, and Varsity teams have a new, promising line up with everyone in high spirits for the upcoming games. I got to talk to sophomore varsity captain, Xienna Cardona- Renshaw, to get her views on these next two months. When asked what she looks forward to the most this season, she mentions she wanted to “improve” her volleyball skills and strengthen her mentality when playing Volleyball. Cardona- Renshaw goes further into the topic and mentions that during games she tends to get into her own head. This leads to her messing up a couple of times, but she hopes to quiet down the loud noise and keep their head in the game.
Although she believes her team will do well this season, she does want to watch out for their safety, especially as they seem to have had a couple of injuries at the start. She wants to make sure all of her teammates can play for the full season.
Cardona- Renshaw lastly mentions how she is motivated by her supportive teammates and parents. But you know who else could help motivate her and the volleyball team? YOU! So, check out West High’s girl volleyball Instagram page @westhigh_volleyball and look for an upcoming game to support. Hope to see you there!
