At the end of this school year a unique chapter in six of Future Farmers of America (FFA) members’ lives will come to an end, they will be passing the gavel to a new team for the 2025-2026 school year. Many of these members have been on or involved in FFA since their freshman or sophomore year. They have spent so much time representing the West High FFA team for the last four years, they have made such a big impact on the FFA organization but mostly on our school and students who are involved in it.
When interviewing treasurer Senior Logan Scheidtmann about if any pressure has been placed to find a new team, he says “Yes, just a little bit due to not many people wanting to step up and take the job.” He was also questioned about what type of impact he hopes to leave here, and he replied with, “I hope to leave a big impact especially on the underclassman’s that anyone can step up and take different opportunities it doesn’t matter who you are, as long as you believe in yourself that you can do it.” Logan has only been on the actual team for one year, but he had a lot to say about his experience being on FFA, one of those things being, “It’s good being my last year, but I have made a lot of friends and had many different opportunities just by being involved which I’m grateful for.”
Now when interviewing one of the FFA teachers, Taylor Myers, I questioned her on if it will be hard to find new members, and she replied with, “No, because a lot of upcoming sophomores coming in, now we are getting lots of underclassmen.” Another was asking if any pressure has been put on them as teachers, and she says, “Not necessarily. It’s mostly on the students who want to be involved in it.” Lastly, when asking about if she thinks the members right now have made a big impact on our school, and she replies with, “All of them have made a big impact, they all started out as freshman or sophomores on the team and a few of them have competed for selection and regional for speaking contest also have made to state contest.”
As we become closer and closer to the end of an era for this year’s FFA season, the leadership and knowledge they will leave behind will help a lot of future members. We hope to see these officers leave inspiration to the future generation of FFA.
