Do school snacks cost too much? The snack bar prices are becoming a real issue. Especially for students who have part-time jobs and can barely afford lunch. Students rely on quick and affordable meals to keep them going throughout the day. As the prices keep going up, it’s becoming harder for students to manage.
I talked to freshman Jayden Richardson and asked, “how often do you go to the snack bar?” He stated, “I go every day to get chips.” He added that he pays $1 and doesn’t mind the price.
I also talked to senior Christian Younes and asked, “how much do you think certain snacks should cost?” He stated, “I feel like the rice crisps are just a little overpriced, being a dollar for a small bar I think they should make them 50 cents but everything else is at a good price.”
I talked to freshman Melissa Valencia and asked, “do you think the snacks at the snack bar cost a lot?” She stated, “I don’t think they are really expensive, but some things are more expensive than what they should be.”
Is it fair that they must spend a significant portion of their limited income just to buy a snack? Lowering the prices of snacks would help.
If prices were lowered, it would be easier for all to buy snacks and support the school. Especially those who don’t have a lot of money to spare. It’s important for the school to consider the financial situation of all students and make sure that everyone has access to affordable food options.
This small change could make a big difference in the lives of many students who are struggling to balance work, school, and their finances.
