The boys’ golf team is getting ready for an entertaining spring season. Any student interested in joining the team must attend the meeting. To participate, you will need to have a physical completion and you should be registered on Family-ID prior to the beginning of the season. Coach Casey Wichman will lead the team this season, and athletic director Derek Solano is also a part of the program. They are excited to help players improve, compete, and enjoy the golf season.
Coach Casey Wichman shared the goals of the team for this year. He stated, “The goals for our season are to win matches, but really just for everyone to improve their golf.” He added that new players can prepare by practicing and working on hitting the ball consistently.
It is going to be an exciting season, full of tournaments and matches. The first match is February 19 against Lathrop High School at Tracy Golf and Country Club. The team will face tough competition from Lincoln, St. Mary’s, and Kimball. Major tournaments include the Wolf Pack Invitational and the TCAL Tournament.
According to Coach Wichman, the biggest challenge of all for the team is that other schools have more experienced players. “In our school, we don’t have as many experienced players, so the challenge is just not being as experienced as the other schools,” he explained.
Despite this, Coach Wichman is confident about the season and his team. “I feel confident about the games this year, and they’re going to be pretty good,” he mentioned. He also shared that he enjoys coaching because he likes working with the students. He encourages students to join the golf team because it is a great extracurricular activity and a way to get more involved in school.
If you are interested in joining, it is a great way to represent your school and get ready for a fun and rewarding season with the boys’ golf team. If you have any questions, you can contact coach Casey Wichman via email.
