West High School is offering exciting rewards to encourage students to take the 2025 CAASPP tests seriously. Students who attend all testing days and put in their best effort will have the chance to earn prizes and other benefits.
According to Principal Henderson, the school introduced these incentives to motivate students. “The testing incentives are to try to motivate students to try on the test, and we know that there is no value in it from what the student perspective is except the college entrance. As an admin, what could we do to at least get students to be more focused?” he said.
Last year, many seniors did not take the test seriously because they believed it would not help them. This year, the school hopes that offering rewards will change that attitude. Students who score “Met” or “Exceeded” standards on both the English and Math CAASPP tests will receive guaranteed rewards. These include a 5% grade boost in their English or Math class and up to 30 hours of Saturday School removal. In addition, students who do well will be entered into the “Blue and Gold Drawing” for even bigger prizes.
These prizes include VIP graduation tickets, Additional graduation tickets, Catered lunch, ASB cards, A $50 gift card or a prom/graduate night ticket, and one free prom ticket. The school hopes these rewards will inspire students to give their best effort on the CAASPP tests. By taking the test seriously, students not only help the school but also open up new opportunities for themselves.
