Have you heard Superman is back? The new 2025 Superman movie starring David Corenswet has really brought back DC. Superman came out July 11, 2025. The new Superman movie had heads turnings. Superman movies usually come out as big hits and are the talk of the town. Superman (2025) was not a massive hit nor was it a flop, leaving it short of expectations for a blockbuster superhero film.
In the film, Superman faces consequences after he intervenes in a conflict with billionaire, Lex Luthor. Superman must win back public support with the help of his reporter and superhero colleagues. Even though Superman does a heroic act that leads to negative consequences, Luthor manipulates public opinion by painting Superman as a threat and uses a human criminal and a clone of Superman to attack him, which had led to the confrontation.
The new Superman movie was a sequel to the Man of Steel, featuring Henry Cavill. The original title was meant to be titled Superman: Legacy, but, director James Gunn, felt that it didn’t align with the film forward looking narrative as well as wanting a fresh start for the character and the D.C. universe.
I interviewed freshmen student, Audrie Soto, on how she felt about the movie. I asked her, ‘How did you feel about the new Superman movie?’ Soto replied with, “The new Superman movie reminded me a lot about the Man of Steel, and I really enjoyed it.”
Soto was also asked, ‘Did the movie surprise you anyway?’ Soto responded with, “The movie was quite what I expected it to be, not huge surprises, but I was shocked a little bit.” Soto responded to, ‘How did you feel about the casting of this movie.’ Soto replied with, “The casting was great, I think David Corenswet played a great Superman and was a good replacement of Cavill.”
Many great reviews about this movie. Great sequel if you enjoyed the Man of Steel Superman. Superman is currently standing number one trending sci-fi movies. The MPAA rating is PG-13 and has a running time set as two hours and nine minutes.
