Hello West High Students and Staff, I am Victor Ramos and I am a staff reporter and todays article I am going to be talking about this year’s FFA Tri -Tip Dinner. This dinner happens every year in the month of August through the first week of September. Students have from August 16th – September 10th to sell as many dinners as possible to earn FFA points and for families to eat some delicious tri-tip. In order for students in the FFA program to earn points for each dinner sold, they would have to take the money, and take the ticket to the bookkeeper located by the office and turn it in. The bookkeeper then later will give you a receipt which the student will take to their Ag teacher for proof of sold dinner and will earn points. Each dinner can feed up to a family of 4 and costs $65. The location to pick up this delicious dinner will be in the staff parking lot behind the theater and will be available to pick up from 4pm-6:30 pm. I got the chance to interview Ms. Cabrera in room MS-6 , and these are the questions I got to ask her about this particular event. I asked what is the Dinner about? Ms. Cabrera responded with “The dinner is a fundraiser for all of FFA.” After that question I asked , does the money go towards anything? She then responded with ” Students sell tri tip dinners to raise money to go on field trips throughout the year.” Next I asked her How many dinners do you guys’ plan on selling? She said “We hope to sell over 150 tri tip dinners this year.” I later then asked what will you guys be serving? She responded with “Each dinner includes 1 fully cooked tri-tip, 8 rolls, and a family sized salad + dressing.” Another question I asked was how long does it take to cook and serve the food? Ms. Cabrera responded with “The Tri-Tip is smoked for about 7 hours by our alumni and supporters, the Antognazzi family. They are great people and help set up , cook and prepare the Tri-tip.” My final question I asked was will there be more dinner events in the future? She responded with “FFA tailgate and panda express are our next dinner events and more opportunities for students to earn FFA points.”
