Picture rushing to the school bathrooms in an emergency, only to be hit by the unbearable smell of unflushed toilets, food waste, and litter scattered all over the floor. The situation with the bathrooms has become unbearable, I can’t even last a minute in them without being disgusted. So, I will discuss how we can clean up the school restrooms, what students think about going to the restrooms, and the overall cleanliness of them.
Cleaning the restrooms isn’t complicated; the real challenge is getting everyone to commit. Students need to start flushing toilets after use, stop using the bathrooms like a trash can, and clean up after themselves. Doing this, the bathrooms will become more bearable for students, and students won’t have to wait hours to get home to use a clean bathroom.
Onto student opinions, some such as the freshman student Adi Kulshreshtha. He states that, “The West High school restrooms are bad because there are students who do unsanitary things there, and it is dirtier than his middle school bathrooms.” This tells us that we have to do better and that the current state of the bathroom leaves a poor impression, especially on new students who will spend 4 years here.
To sum up, the school restrooms are messy and unsanitary. Students sometimes don’t always just use them for their intended purposes. We as a school must work on helping keep our bathrooms clean so that other students can have a somewhat safe and enjoyable experience in them.
