Faith, friendship, and a lot of planning is what it takes when it comes to running the West High Catholic Club It takes lots more than just belief, it takes teamwork. The West High Catholic Club is a new club this year that focuses on strengthening not only a strong bond with God, but to also grow a bond with the people around us. The club hosts meetings every week so students can come together and spread the love about God and grow your faith. The club does not just lecture you about God, but it also gives you an interactive setting and helps you learn how to incorporate God into your own life
I interviewed Junior Mia Tello, president of the West High Catholic Club. I asked Tello how she keeps the club active. Tello replied with “We try to incorporate fun activities and often ask for feedback making sure we are doing this for everybody not just us.” I also asked Tello what the best thing is about being in the club Tello said “My favorite part about the club is being able to bring people together and share the love with God.”
I then interviewed Junior Leslie Santana, vice president of the club. I asked Santana what her and the officers do to prepare for club meetings. Santana replied with, “We like to come together with all the officers and discuss what we are going to talk about, and we like to get ideas from all officers and even set up polls to members for the best experience.” I then asked Santana what the main goal of the club is. Santana said, “The ultimate goal is to mostly spread the word about faith and help others with their own relationships with God, especially being in high school where there are things that can draw you away from God and we want to help build that connection.”
I interviewed Junior Leo Zamora, the social media manager of the club. I asked Zamora how the club strengthens people’s faith, and he replied with “We like to strengthen people’s faith through prayer because we feel that the more people learn and hear prayers that it will give them more motivation to implement God into their lives.” I also asked Zamora what inspired him to to join the club as the social media manager, and he said, “It was easier to get this role in the club because the club was brought together with my friends, and it was simpler giving out tasks for each other.”
The West High Catholic Club is a great place to come together with friends and spread the love for faith. Behind the club there is a successful team of people who work hard and are not only guided by a schedule but guided by faith and a shared commitment to their community. If you are interested in joining the Catholic Club all meetings are held on Wednesdays in room H8 where everyone is welcomed to share the love with God. This is the day the lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it —Psalm 118:24.
