The biggest and liveliest games are those between rivals. When you hear the Wolf Pack and Bulldogs are playing against each other, you know that this will be a game to remember. Since the first time the varsity girls basketball team played against Tracy, they have come a long way. On January 28, West was able to take home a redeeming win 48-43 from the last time they played Tracy. Junior Marissa Perez said, “It was very exciting to see my team win against Tracy High since it is our cross town rival. It was a really big win for us in our league.”

The varsity girls were not the only ones who played an amazing game. On January 29, the Varsity boys basketball team also played a commemorating game as junior Rory Flynn said, “It felt good..it boosted our confidence.” In the first quarter, both teams struggled as they each tried to gain dominance over the ball. West won the first quarter 10-7. As the quarters progressed, West was at its highest peak as they made shots left and right. At the end of the second quarter, they were able to stay in the lead 37-27. With a few more fouls from both teams, West never ceased to back down from the chance to score. At the end of the third quarter, it was not a surprise that the ‘Pack was still in the lead 53-40.

At the end of the night, only one could team could take home the win. As the clock ticked closer and closer to zero, Tracy started to decrease West’s lead, but the ‘Pack refused to give them the advantage. West beat Tracy 66-57.
