So far with these 3 weeks of football, a lot has been surprising. If that may be injuries or teams who shocked us. Rookies filling in shoes and making their debut, many teams have given an impressive performance so far. So how do these teams rank above or below each other in the ranks? As far as the top 5 playoff bound teams:
1. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers scored 10 points in the fourth quarter and were able to hold on late against the rams. Christian McCaffrey has now played 13 regular season games with the 49ers. They have scored at least 30 points in nine of those contests including six of the seven started by Brock Purdy. With the offense cooking and one of the best defenses in the league, San Francisco has a case to be one of the Super Bowl favorites.
2. Dallas Cowboys
Dallas did what they needed to in Week 2. Outside of a long touchdown catch by Garrett Wilson, the Cowboys shut down the Jets’ offense and cruised to an easy victory. Dallas heads to Arizona next week and then gets the Patriots at home before a trip to San Francisco in Week 5. We might have to wait until then to know exactly how good this team is as the injury regarding Trevon Diggs may affect their defense heavily.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
Philly discovered their running game just in time to earn the win against the Vikings on Thursday night, running back D’andre swift has made a great impact in the offense, but the passing game once again looked uncoordinated, and the defense gave up 28 points. There is no reason to panic, especially with the Bucs, Commanders, Rams, and Jets next up on the schedule, but it has not been the most promising start from the Eagles.
4. Kansas City Chiefs
The good news is that Kansas City’s defense has played well against both the Lions and Jaguars, two offenses we expected to be good this season. The bad news is the offense once again sputtered, turning the ball over three times, struggling with penalties, and scoring just 17 points against an exploitable defense. There is enough institutional faith here to assume the offense will turn around, especially as Travis Kelce gets healthier, but it has been shaky. Some parts are questionable about the chiefs, as far as the WR core, and Kadarius Toney performance in there near future.
5. Buffalo Bills
Josh Allen did not make any big mistakes, the run defense smothered Josh Jacobs, and the Bills bounced back with a big and much needed win. They should be ranked below Miami, but the Bills get the benefit of the doubt given they have been the second-best team in the league over several seasons. Buffalo faces the surprise2-0 Commanders in Week 3 before a massive game against those Dolphins in Week 4.
