Girl’s soccer this year is kicking off with a good start. As the season begins the girls prepare themselves for the next upcoming games. From intense practices to team bonding, players this year are in for a good season. I interviewed one of the junior varsity players on their views on playing on the West high’s girls’ soccer team.
I spoke to junior Jillian Apilado and asked her why she joined soccer, Apilado responded with “I joined soccer because I wanted to play soccer and I also built a better friendship with the people on the team.” I also asked Apilado what position she played and if she has always played it or not, Apilado said “I play center mid-field and I haven’t always played that position and the first time I played soccer my position was defender.”
I also asked Apilado some questions about the start of the season, I asked her what she’s most improved on this season and she replied with “I mostly improved on ball control and dribbling” I asked who Apilado was most interested in playing and she responded with “I’m most interested in playing against River Islands and because I’m familiar with the people there and I want to know how good they can be.”
This season seems to be at a good start in terms of confidence. In the end, this team has determination, teamwork, and a real love for the game, the girls are ready to finish the season with pride and leave everything they’ve got on the field.
