From walking the halls as a student to now teaching in the same classrooms, Mrs. Lundell has truly come full circle. As a proud alumnus of the Wolf Pack, she’s now not only a teacher but also the cheer coach, spreading the spirit on and off the field.
Alumni, Mrs. Lundell graduated in 2010. During her time as a student, she was involved in Leadership all four years and was ASB president her junior and senior year while also being a part of the cheer team all four years. After college, she decided to return to the place that helped shape who she is today. She knew she was set on not becoming a teacher she says”, I did not originally land on becoming a teacher, but I knew I wanted to help kids and I took some sign language classes in college that helped guide me to become a special education teacher.”
Now, as a Special Education, Science teacher and also Co-teacher for 9th-12th grade, Mrs. Lundell loves helping her students learn and grow. She loves her job and wants success in her classroom. She mentions how she will do anything to help her students with whatever they need. All her family have been teachers, so she grew up with a healthy learning environment and strives to make that environment for her students.
Outside the classroom, Mrs.Lundell leads the cheer team with her younger sister. In high school she was on the West High Cheer Team and then came back to coach. She encourages her cheerleaders to always have a positive attitude and to have a lot of school pride.
For her teaching and coaching at her old school is more than a job; it’s a full-circle moment. When asking her how she feels being back, she says “I feel like I’m giving back to my community. I love being on my old stomping ground and helping to promote school spirit and just a proud alumnus of West High.”
Her journey shows that sometimes, the best way to move forward is by giving back to where it all began.
