The creators of the Trolls trilogy knew exactly how to bring in an audience of wide age variety. Trolls: Band Together, the newest Trolls movie co-directed by Walt Dohrn and Tim Heitz, has earned the attention of both parents and their children. While the movie is directed towards the younger age, the creators incorporate many details that date back before the 2000s.
Trolls: Band Together features many songs, bands, and “easter eggs” that parents remember from their childhood as well. NSYNC, a band from 1995, has been reunited partially because of their cameo in the new Trolls movie. There are many other 1990s boy bands that are subtly mentioned throughout the movie such as “Boyz II Men,” “New Kids on the Block,” “Backstreet Boys,” and “New Edition.”
While entertaining both the older and youngest age groups, Trolls: Band Together soundtrack has taken storm over teenage social media. Media platforms such as TikTok have been flooded with dances and trends due to the catchy lyrics and beats. This new edition to the Trolls series has not lowered my expectations of groovy feeling and ecstatic mood to rewatch the Trolls movies.
