Fast food is an easy and cheap way to get a quick meal on the road. Two very popular restaurants here in Tracy are McDonalds and In-N-Out. Both have delicious tasting foods, but which is the better option? Many factors could affect the outcome of this, but let’s look at a few factors.
McDonalds and In-N-Out are on total opposite sides of the quality spectrum. McDonalds ingredients are not known to be as fresh as In-N-Out. Inside of the In-N-Out building, you can see the workers freshly cutting the potatoes to put into the frier for their fries. They also have a wider variety of items on the menu since they have different customizations such as “The Flying Dutchman” or “Animal Style”. However, McDonalds has faster service and food such as chicken nuggets and kids’ items. Now that we have looked at the actual food quality, what do the students of West High think?
Junior Xienna Cardona-Renshaw says that she prefers In-N-Out because “It’s cheaper, real ingredients, and better customer service.” My personal opinion leans toward In-N-Out because of their “Animal Style” fries and fresh tasting quality. The mix of the fresh lettuce and tomato mix well with the warmth of the patty and crispy bun ties everything together. In-N-Out is also very filling while McDonalds seems like their products are just thrown together in a “just get it done” kind of way. However, this also helps the amount of time waiting for food to come out, which is not scored very high for In-N-Out since waiting in the typical drive through line for In-N-Out takes around 30 minutes. Do you prefer In-N-Out or McDonalds?
