A Netflix original, K-Pop Demon Hunters, took the world by storm soon after it was released on June 20, 2025. Without revealing spoilers, I will say that it satisfies an audience who craves action, music, culture, and relationship dynamics. It walks the audience through the journey of three specially chosen women, Rumi, Mira, and Zoe, who are trying to fulfill their given duty of protecting the human world from demons. Their cover identity being a well-known K-Pop group. However, their music not only thrives in the movie, it also thrives in the real world.
K-Pop Demon Hunters documents the journey of a K-Pop group called “HUNTR/X” who lead double lives as demon slayers. In order to stop the demons from entering the human world, they need to close the Honmoon, a spiritual protective barrier between the two worlds, by using their voices via singing. It features moments of culture within the clothing, food, and music. Their songs, “Golden”, “Your Idol”, and “Soda Pop” simultaneously reached Billboard Hot 100 top 5; the choreographies thriving on TikTok as many content creators try their own hand at it. The movie’s animation highlights the emotion that the writers try to evoke, looking similar to the animation of the movie Turning Red. Its script and songwriting capture the audience’s attention and immerses them into the film. Whether or not you are a K-Pop fan, there is little doubt that you will love this movie as much as I do.
