It’s almost the end of the year, and we are about to send our seniors off into the world. Although there are many pathways for high school students after they graduate, one, and the most popular, is attending college. This 2026 year, here are the topmost applied to colleges within California.
- California Institute of Technology. CalTech is applied to a lot both from people in-state and out-of-state because of its reputation in STEM and intense prestige. It has a recently 2.6% acceptance rate.
- Stanford University. Stanford, arguably the most sought-after university in the world, is again known for incredibly strong STEM programs, but also, it’s elite liberal arts and athletics. This year, it has a 4% acceptance rate.
- University of Southern California. Known to be a very “big school” with a southern Californian atmosphere, the professional programs and high-energy mix make it a top choice, with a 11.7% acceptance rate.
- UC Berkeley. Berkeley, relatively closer to us, is known for being the #1 research university the U.S. has to offer. It has a global reputation for academic excellence. Has an overall acceptance rate of 11.4%.
- UCLA. This is the most applied to school in the United States, known as the #1 public university, and combines strong education programs and top athletics.
- UC San Diego. UCSD is known for its STEM powerhouse. In fields like biology, biotechnology, and marine science, UCSD is a global leader, and has many opportunities for internships and research. It has a 24.7% acceptance rate.
- UC Santa Barbara. Known for world-class research and its coastal lifestyle, UCSB is a top choice for many seniors across California. It has an overall acceptance rate of 33%.
