After midterm and winter break, on February 28, JROTC is hosting its annual Military Ball. The celebration is specifically for members of JROTC is a way for cadets to appreciate their hard work and dedication in their field and take a moment to relax and unwind.
During Military Ball, JROTC members enjoy making new memories. It is why a way for cadets to enforce camaraderie and reinforce unit pride. Sophomore Isabella Bernal-Stough, a member of JROTC, explains how Military Ball is, “to give cadets a celebration and reward them for their hard efforts throughout the year.” This year, cadets will get together to recognize their hard work and dedication. It’s a side of our JROTC members we usually don’t see.
Through traditions, cadets will interact and boost morale, prepare for future social events as well as military settings, and celebrate and encourage respect and unity through ceremonies and celebration. One tradition Bernal-Stough introduces is the grog bowl, “a large drink concoction that cadets drink from when they break a rule.” She also explains how there is a formal and informal part of the night. “And also girls dressing in nice dresses and guys wearing full uniform,” Bernal-Stough finishes.
We hope JROTC members have a good time and we appreciate their service! You can follow AFJROTC’s Instagram @westafjrotc.
