Senior Ditch Day is one of those traditions for all the seniors every year everyone is looking forward to. All seniors skip school and go hangout all day whether it can be the beach or hiking, or other things, they all still skip and celebrate. Senior skip day is one of the few events that happen before the big graduation day which is why every senior skip and enjoys it. It’s a day where no one wakes up to school, or to do homework or to be near a school. It’s a celebration where we made it through together.
For a lot of us, this day is about making memories with friends before we all go our separate ways. Some people plan trips to the beach, others hang out at someone’s house, and some just sleep in and enjoy a day off from school. What makes it special isn’t what you do, but who you spend it with. Your friends have been there for all the 4 years of high school, which is why we should make as many memories as possible. Moments like these won’t last forever.
I got to interview senior Adrian Valle, and I asked Valle what he did for senior skip day. Adrian responded with “For Senior Skip Day I went to San Fransico with 8 of my friends.” I also asked Valle if he got to redo Senior Skip Day, would he do something different or go somewhere else. Valle answered with, “What I’ll do differently is make sure we left more early to San Fransico to have more time together and do more activities out there.”
Senior Ditch Day isn’t just about ditching; it’s about appreciating the last moments a senior has of high school. It’s about laughing with friends, taking a break from school, and realizing that we’re about to move on to bigger things. It’s our time to enjoy the memories we’ve made and get ready for whatever comes next. After the years of early mornings, homework, tests, and stress, Senior Ditch Day feels like a small break that we’ve earned.
