Apple, a company with one of the highest net worths worldwide. Known for their revolutionary technological breakthroughs with devices that are in almost everyone’s pockets. The iPhone 1 was released in 2007, and they have released a new phone every year in an attempt to improve the model from the previous year. Most recently, the iPhone 17 was released, and 2 months later, apple announces possibly one of the most interesting product drops of the year; The iPhone pocket.
At first, you would think surely that this was a joke product. No way this was released by Apple as a legit item they are selling. But no, your eyes do not deceive you. This product, that resembles a mix of a fanny pack without the pack, allows you to hold your phone on your person without using your pants pockets?
While it may seem silly, there are some ways I can see the product being very useful. The most obvious of them all is if you do not have pockets in your pants. Some pants don’t have pockets, or the pockets are not deep enough to fully submerge the phone, making you more susceptible or prone to pick pocketers in public spaces. This phone pocket offers a solution by keeping your phone safe and close to you at all times.
I interviewed senior Sergio Munguia Navarro for his opinion on Apples newest product. “It looked pretty useless when I saw it a first, but once I saw the product video showcasing how it would be used, I could see it being used at like a concert or at a convention.” Navarro said he thought about buying it, but then he checked the price, “I would have considered buying it, but I check and it was like $160.”
It seems like the high price for a seemingly optional product which makes it hard to open your wallet. But what do you think? Will I be seeing you rocking the new iPhone pocket?
