Every year, there are many occasions when gifts can be given, like birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, and Christmas. Whatever reason you are giving a gift, you can make the gift so much better by wrapping it well.
I interviewed senior Gavin Alvarez who told me that wrapping present was a skill he was lacking in. “I always either wrap it terribly or just throw it in a gift bag.” Alvarez also told me that when receiving a gift there’s certain things that make it stand out. “Anyone can put a gift in a bag, but with a gift, presentation is everything.”
But without further ado, here is how to make your gift stand out:
1. Gather your supplies:
· Your gift
· Wrapping paper
· Tape
· Scissors
2. Unroll wrapping paper and put your gift on top of the paper. Make sure you have a 2-inch overlap (extra) to ensure a good, useable cut of paper.
3. Pull one side of the paper up and tape it to the top of the gift, then do the same for the other side.
4. Push the sides of the paper inward to form triangles. Fold the top flap down, then the bottom flap up adhering this action with tape.
5. Repeat step number 4 on the other side.
6. Add any finishing touches; ribbons, bows, name tags, cards, etc.
Now you will never have to hand someone a poorly wrapped present again! If your present didn’t come out perfect; don’t worry! Every skill comes with practice, and if you didn’t get it the first time, it’s just an excuse to embrace the holidays and get people more gifts!
