The month of October has been home to some of the most ear catching and head bopping songs! So, I took time to review some of them!
“The Fate of Ophelia” by Taylor swift comes her new album, “The Life of a Showgirl” released on October 3, 2025. The song is meant to parallel “Ophelia” from Shakespeare’s, “Hamlet”, hinting themes of love and emotional challenges. When I first listened to the song, the slow versus but upbeat choruses worked together greatly. I found it catchy and a song I would add to my playlist.
“Golden” by HUNTR/X: EJAE, Audrey Nuna & REI comes from the Soundtrack of “KPop Demon Hunters” released on June 20, 2025, a Netflix original movie surrounding 3 girls Rumi, Zoey, and Mira who formed the K-pop girl group HUNTRIX, and use the power of song to fight demons and restore the “Honmoon.” The pop song centers around the group trying to find where they belong, dealing with self-conflict and struggles. The song is always in the back of my brain with addicting high notes and although that makes it almost impossible to do karaoke, I’ll never give up trying.
“Ordinary” by Alex Warren was released on February 7, 2025, but it still tops charts 9 months later! Making waves on TikTok, the song is anything but ordinary with its themes of a unique type of love. It also has hints at some religious themes as well. Although the song is not something I would listen to again, it still has nice instrumentals and vocals.
Elizabeth Taylor by Taylor Swift is yet another hit off “The Life of a Showgirl”, to make it to the Billboard’s top chart. The song has a nice beat and meaningful lyrics surrounding Taylor’s view about being famous and in the spotlight. The song is named Elizabeth Taylor, a child starting actress growing up to be in Hollywood cinema classics.
