Angel Tree is a Salvation Army organization that provides gifts to families in need and helps children, teens, and seniors to make sure they all have something to unwrap on Christmas morning. However, this year more people are learning about this organization through TikTok and with dozen influencers going out, selecting 2 or more angel tags and vlogging their Christmas shopping for the adopted angels. Along with this growing trend of people donating gifts this year, there have been some ongoing controversies about certain gift givers this year.
The Salvation Army has recently recognized this growing TikTok trend and after finding out that they were having a hard time keeping angel tags on trees in local stores. After some digging they find out their organization is a TikTok trend and many of the children’s wishes have been fulfilled this holiday season.
These controversies have led to a wide spread of controversy that people are upset about. For example, earlier this year a woman picked out an angel tree tag that had a minimum of 30$ to spend and it specially asked for a Baby Alive baby doll and the women stated that the specific doll had “already blew the budget” and the woman ended up picking a generic brand baby doll. This aggravated people because she didn’t want to go over the minimum budget of the gift and preferred to give a child something they did not ask for.
In my opinion I don’t think you should participate if you cannot afford the items that were listed on the angel tags. It’s best to leave them alone for others who can afford to purchase the gift the child has asked for. I think people who don’t make a fair effort to fulfill the Christmas wishes of a child should not participate in any angel tree giving.
I recommend these people donating to organizations like Toys for Tots where people can donate toys for children that don’t need a specific tag and are given out unanimously to local communities.
